Last night in Lagos on the eve of the New Years weekend, Toke Makinwa threw a fabulous pyjama party. Taking over the luxurious pamper house, Oasis Med Spa in Ikoyi; Toke brought together a coterie of A-listers including Tiwa Savage, Elohor Aisien, Arese Ugwu, Gbemi Olagbegi-Olateru for a festive evening that ranged from sipping Ciroc Negroni and Cocoloso cocktails to pillow fights.

Also joining in the fun? Fashionable girls including Bolanle Olakunni, Latasha Ngwube and Yvonne Nwosu joined the ‘no-boys allowed’ night toasting to a year of success.

Toke’s close friends were treated to sweet and savoury treats in silky robes and ankara-style pyjamas. Between the guest list and the dress code, it certainly makes for one of the most glamorous "pyjama parties" Lagos has ever seen.

Will Smith's movie, Collateral Beauty in Cinemas from today

The private screening for the movie ‘Collateral Beauty’ was held on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the Genesis Deluxe Cinema, The Palms, Lekki, Lagos. The hall was filled with Linda Ikeji’s Blog readers, filmmakers and distributors of the movie.
The movie, ‘Collateral Beauty’ which will be in cinemas across Nigeria today Friday, December 30, 2016, is directed by David Frankel and stars an ensemble cast of Will Smith, Edward Norton, Keira Knightley, Michael Pena, Naomie Harris, Jacob Latimore and Kate Winslet.

It tells the story of “Love, time, death — these three things that connect every single human being on Earth. We long for love, we wish we had more time, and we fear death”.  Will Smith (Howard) is a creative, charismatic, advertising executive who used to love life but now hates it since his daughter’s death. Howard spends lots of time writing letters, not to people but to “things” as a means of therapy. When his notes bring unexpected personal responses, he begins to understand how these constants interlock in a life fully lived and how even the deepest loss can reveal moments of meaning and beauty.

Some of LIB readers had this to say about the movie;
“The movie is different. I like the way they made the angels so obvious, no wings and no halo. It is very realistic. I encourage everyone to go and see the movie especially those that are grieving it will help them pass through their grief. The story line is very natural, not fictional, it is more of what we face in life, how to handle life issues and it is an educative movie. I also got a new definition of death. “Death has its own beauty and it is a part of the whole circle life, so does Love and Time,” said Olarenwaju.
Tobi Awosika said,
“It is beautiful, very emotional and filled with great actors. I know lost but I got to see what losing your child feels like. When you lose something you should just let it go because you are not only harming yourself mentally but people around too”.
CEO of Blue Pictures, Mrs. Joy Ilibeno-Odiete said,
“I am hopeful audiences will discover this terrific film that is well done and uplifting and has a great message of hope and connection. I encourage everyone to the movie as it hits cinemas across Nigeria today Friday, December 30, 2016.
Watch the trailer of the movie as we anticipate it release in cinemas on Friday, December 30, 2016.

Photos from the funeral of murdered bride-to-be, Dayo Adeleke

A friend of Dayo Enioluwa Adeleye, who was murdered by her Cameroonian steward posted these beautiful photos of the deceased used on the burial programme along with a touching tribute.
Dayo was laid to rest yesterday, Thursday, December 29th, at The Vaults and Gardens after a service of songs and funeral service at Guiding Light Assembly, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi Lagos. See photos from the funeral and the tribute after the cut..
As I woke up and came out of my room this morning, thoughts of Dayo continue to flood my mind, just has it has continually since I got to hear of her passing.
Shortly after, my brother Olawale Adeniyi who is on holiday also came out of his room. As we spoke about this tragic loss, we asked that God should comfort the family.
I said to my brother that I saw a beautiful photo of her online and I would love to have that photo. I said to him that it would be nice for her family to remember her as she was in that picture.
She looked truly happy. I said to my brother that I bet she is laughing like that in heaven and looking at us all gloomy eyed and sad, saying if only we know how much more of a better place she is now. I just love that picture.
Soon after I arrived in church, sat down and schemed through the programme, I noticed that it was that very picture that was at the back of the programme. I felt so much peace, for the first time since her passing, I felt so much peace and it was captioned perfectly ” I HAVE COMPLETED MY RACE”. My mind got to work again. I thought of Dayo and how similar our lives are/were. She lived life to the max and had fun whilst she was at it. Reading through her tributes, I see she did her own thing and ran her OWN race.
She passed on at the age of 33 just like Jesus. He also ran HIS race. He completed His race in that time.
This race of life is NOT about the duration as much as we would love to all live till we are really old. It’s not for the fastest, swiftest, richest, smartest etc.
We all have our own UNIQUE race to run and how we complete that race irrespective of time is how successful we truly are. I am at peace and comforted knowing Dayo, you rest continually with the Lord.
When I walked from the church shortly after 7pm after the Candle Light vigil yesterday, I turned back as I became fearful and paranoid. I had to ask my husband to come and pick me up. I am not one who is usually fearful.
This is exactly what the enemy wants, for us to doubt the love of God, to question the Unquestionable and to rob us of our peace. TBC. Continue to rest in peace.
